Frequently Asked Questions
What does a day in the board and train look like?
Your dog will go on a structured walk twice a day for about 20-30 minutes with some downtime in the crate after each walk. There is about 120 - 160 minutes of active training sessions spaced out throughout the day so that your dog will be focused during each session.
Can I ever pet my dog again?
Yes, but I always advocate for a 90 day no pet policy after every board and train. Just to make sure that your dog knows that your affection is not for free.
How do i maintain the dogs training?
Just like you maintain anything in life, it has to be a lifestyle. Cycle through all the obedience commands once a day, just to make sure the dogs knows what is expected of them. It will become natural overtime!
Will my dog’s personality change after the training?
The only thing that will change is that your dog will know how to behave and make better decisions, but their personality will be the same!
Does my puppy need obedience?
Every dog no matter the breed or age needs some kind of training! The only difference between puppies and adults is that puppies just have a shorter attention span and have a greater threshold for stimulating environments. Training dogs during their puppy hood is the best time to train as there are very few patterned negative behaviors to be corrected. Puppies will be given more time to socialize and learn how to greet and play with other puppies and adult dogs.
My dog is on medication, will you still take him/her?
I ask all my clients to wean their dogs off of any medications before training because I want to see how much of the original dog we can work with and re-pattern. Dogs are very resilient and can learn to live without anti-anxiety medication if given the correct training!
what if my dog exhibits a behavior that you didn’t mention that you work with?
Please contact us! There are times where we re-create specific situations for the dog so we can observe their behavior and work through or correct it.
